Hi, I am Taylor. I am a speech-language pathologist in Murfreesboro, Tennessee, and I built Patchwork Speech because I could not face printing the same tired word list one more time.

I have been a practicing SLP for more than ten years - adults and teens first, then pediatrics from 2019, and virtual schools through COVID. The materials on this site come from that clinical work.

Somewhere along the way I realized I was printing the same /r/ list I had printed in my very first job. Same words, same clip art, same three columns. The good materials are locked behind a subscription and the free ones want your email address first, and neither works when a session starts in five minutes.

So everything here is free to download and print, right now, with no account and no email needed. There is no premium tier and nothing is gated. The ads cover hosting and the time it takes to keep the content accurate, and that is the whole business model.

What this site is not

These are practice materials, not a treatment plan. A word list cannot tell you which sound to target, in which position, or when to move on — that is clinical judgment, and nothing here replaces an evaluation by a licensed speech-language pathologist.

A sibling project

Patchwork Speech is a sibling to Patchwork AAC, an augmentative and alternative communication app for emerging communicators. Same idea, different corner of the field: make the thing good, and make it reachable.
